totally frustrated at the moment, I have a 96 vs calais duel fuel. My car will start on gas only when the car warms up, I've been told the converter is on its way out and is gummed up, thats not the problem. The car won't start on petrol, I have changed fuel pump , leads, plugs, coil packs. The car sounds like it wants to kick over and does on occasion if only for the briefest moment, I am now thinking o2 sensor, or CAS. My wife drove down to shops got out, got back in and just wouldn't start, on only one occasion I did drive on gas switched over to petrol and managed to drive approx 20 minutes, turned the car off and wouldn't start ever again on petrol, I'm looking for ANY help.
Does the security light flash when you try to start it?
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
no the security light goes out when I unlock the doors and doesn't come on when I try to start. Only the stereo light flashes
maybe the crank angle sensor then? thanks for your help anyway. Happy to hear any other ideas
really stupid question but may be the answer .. how long has the petrol been in the tank, also have you checked spark from the coil ? checked fuel flow at the regulator ?
by the sounds of it your engine is cranking over ok and you have lots of battery power, it just wont fire so you either have spark or fuel issue
probably not a stupid question, to be honest it has been a very long time, approx 9 months. I am in the military, and go away for long periods. But when it initially happened the fuel was new, and I have topped it up with new petrol . Interesting thought though. Tell me more
hey nugget, missed the other half of your response, how simple is it to check the fuel regulator , is just a visual inspection or do I pull a hose off or two.
