Just got my mechanic to put 2 fresh new uni joints on the manual tail shaft that was from a VN that had 330,000km on clock.
Ever since this, I get a horrible clunk noise when I accelerate quickly... It sounds to be coming from the uni's front or back not too sure at this stage...
Pretty sure front.
Should I take it back? Ever since the new uni joints I get this new noise.
I did jack up the car and they look to be well greased...so they didn't forget to do that.
What else can I check?
Cheers in advance all.
dont check anything. take it back, make sure u let them know in a subtle way that it's at their expense. something like "i'm not really satisfied the job was finished, theres a weird sound coming from the front" should help.
Does it make like a whacking sound on floor pan?
If you dont wanna take it back, check the bracket towards the centre of tailshaft, safety U shaped bracket with 1 bolt each on side which bolts directly into floor pan. Chances are they're not tight, especially the one thats nearest the exhaust, its hard to get 1/2 inch spanner or socket on the head of that bolt. (just did mine two weekends ago) Also check the two bolts(nut & bolt) either side of those bolts, you'll need socket and spanner(or two sockets) for that one. Think they too are 1/2 inch. Good luck!
Cheers guys, I think it happens to be my hand brake...When I apply the hand brake while driving I get the same noise...I think I will check out the shoes and maybe re-adjust it again...So don't think I will take it back.
