Hey guys just a quick question,
What exactly is the difference between the VS and the VS S? Does the S have advantages over the VS or what?
Cheers
Yes it has FE2 suspension so the S pacs handle much better apart from that and perhaps different trim inside they are the same
Alright thanks mate. So there are no engine performance differences between them? Just looking for a ute for my brother and i am just wondering what the differences were. I have been looking on the net and i noticed some VS's have black plastics (bumper) and some are white, what does this mean? Sorry about my ignorance, im learning!![]()
No engine enhancements. But as stated above you get FE2 suspension (1" lowered, stiffer springs / shocks, and different swaybar configuration). Trim is slightly different, dash is usually a darker plastic, seats covered different and steering wheel is slightly different. You get the same body kit as the SS model (with one less S on your stickers). And the usual red bump strip around the body... which actually adds 10rwkw.
The brakes are no different, and I dont think the steering setup is any different - but I may be wrong here.
Might have left the factory with different brake pads or maybe even slightly different exhaust setup but anything like that would be replaced with aftermarket parts by now anyway
Available in all of the factory VS colours, but black and white were very popular choices when they came out because they suit the red stripe very well.

...And the white ones go quicker too![]()
Sorry for the confusion. Red bump strips dont add 10rwkw, and white cars dont go quicker... the red ones do![]()
Ok, now im following, hahahaha!
hahaha. In sum, the Spack had new badged, a body kit, suspension and wheels, trim and a red stripe. But the engine, gearbox, diff and everything else to do with making the car go and stop are the same as the exec.
One difference between the ute and the sedan is that the utes all came with factory fitted LSD's
They should have given sedans the LSD as standard too.![]()
i think the old time the LSD was standard in a v6 was for the utes and in the MY05-06 VZ SV6. The VE SV6 doesnt come with one standard, I optioned mine into it
basically it allows both wheels to spin with equal torque delivered to both rather than just one wheel. So say one wheel is on grass and the other or a road surface, instead of the wheel on the grass just spinning and loosing traction, the clutches in the LSD will grip and sent torque to both wheels so the car can move. But it still allows some difference in wheel speed so that the car can take corners without scrubbing of tyres
So did the VS come standard with the black bumper or was it optional?
...now I'm confused
You might have to post a picture to show us what you mean by "the black bumper". Are you talking about bumpers that aren't colour coded (unpainted grey plastic)? If so, I thought virtually all VS utes had painted bumpers????

There are a few on the net with the same thing. I just thought they all came fully white as the standard.

Ah, non colour-coded bumpers
Must have saved the original owner 5 or 6 bucks when ordering the ute from holden
Just get them painted up. It'll cost a couple of hundred to do.

Ok, thanks fella's!
im quite intrested in this. so performance wise the bt1 package is pretty much the same? just the fact the the bt1s have no electric windows and air con and they got a factory bodykit and the cop rims and also the bt1 has a chip in the computer too
Federation
Against
Rotary
Tossers
all vs's have a chip and computerthe difference between the standard and bt1, is nothing, the 'cop chip' is a myth
