Hey
Does anyone know if you're able to bring the k's on a berlina/calais speedo
down to the km's the car is actually at aka "rewinding" the k's? I'm guessing no but thought I would ask...
Thanks
Maybe if you went along with your old dash and the new one in the car (as it has to be in the car working for them to be able to do it) they might do it, just plead ignorance and just say your old one was broken and you got a sparky to change it for you, (even though it is different just pretend you simply didn't notice) It could work. Sometimes some auto sparkys have tech2 also and if they know how they can be able to do it but you'll need to find a talented one and they'll charge you an arm and a leg to do it. but holden prob won't as they know what they're doing and its easy for them.
I have heard of elec speedos/odos in other types of cars being wound back via some kind of reverse pulse or something? I not too sure on this but I have heard about it before.
Also, im not sure about oz, but our kms get recorded here in NZ everytime you get a warrant of fitness (6 monthly) which I guess is similar to your RWC but not as intense, anyway maybe in OZ you guys have some sort of documentation that records your cars kms every RWC?
If you have a car with service books you may get a Holden dealer to change it.
I was quoted $150 to do it when changing the dash in my VN. Ended up getting a cluster of Ebay with close to the correct K's on if for alot less. Then sold my L2 dash for good $$$ saving more. Just took 4 months of watching Ebay listings.

@hartsc: Yeah I don't think we have that serious km recording...not that I've noticed anyway so I could be wrong. Getting a sparky to do it is a good option too I guess, but if I went to Holden at least I could have genuine proof that it was genuinely done?
@greenvn: Yeah I'd like to just find another dash, but my car only has 74000 k's, I don't think there are going to be any L3 dashes out there with that many k's. And the Holden option sounds good because then I could have proof that the car does really have the many k's on it after swapping the dash over(thats what I was worried about that people would think I was lying about the k's after a different dash had been put in)...they would give you documentation saying that they did the change over wouldn't they? In your service book or something?
Ok.
Thanks, both been a big help![]()
