hi all this may be a stupid question but i want to know if i have a CAI theres a piece of plastic coming out of the airbox that goes up to beside the headlight. a vn i looked at didn't have it mybe its only half a CAI?
No its not part of a cai, thats just the standard little snorkel that draws air from behind the headlight. Pretty sure this was standard on vr/vs but not too sure about the earlier commodores. Seems that lots of people removed this over the years anyway.
Is there a whole cut in the bottom section of the box?
When I bought my vn there was a perfect rectangle whole cut in the bottom which looked like it had a CAI setup and it was removed, the setup which imo was useless cos it was 'tryin' to draw air through the headlght which was blocked. So I basically had to buy a new bottom end of an airbox and fit my own.
The setup on mine looked like the previous owner thought he was a racer and would remove the headlight for airintake other than that it was like trying to breathe through a brick wall
It sounds like Holden's halfhearted attempt at CAI. cander24 is right, they tend to disappear though which would explain why the VN didn't have it. The duct goes back to at least VL (same airbox).
Yep,i rang holden and i got quoted $41.00 for the top bit that goes over the radiator and around $26.00 for the bit that goes into the air box.(thats for the supercharged vs CAI).
