is it only to pass a rwc and you want to make it loud again later? if so then get one of the cat gaskets and take it down the local steel fabricators, get them to make a new gasket out of steel, but have a smaller opening for the gasses to pass. It will make it quieter but will also stop the car having as much power.

If you want to take it back to what it is now, you can put some steel wool in the front of your cat, then pull it back out when you're done.

I personally would rather a fully legal exhaust, but you can try that if its' what floats your boat.

thats really hard to do on the vs's, the y pipe is welded to the cat. Unlike the vr which simply unbolts and pulls out.

If its' too loud to pass roadworthy, I doubt it's a standard exhaust system.

Yep, mine is the standard HSV zorst, resi taken off. It's pretty farkin loud. Doesn't take much to make a V8 loud.

After reading the Vic Roads guide, I'd get a shop to flange a hotdog out the rear. You can always change it out then...

I would put a resinator on you would be surprised they dont detract to much of the growl and makes for a much better comfort for your ears. Dont get me wrong I love loud cars but the note has to be right. Nothing worse than cuirsing along have a god awlful drone revererating through the cabin of your car.
