where bouts would that be its a column shift?
ok, well check the codes first. they will point u in the right direction.
mmmm havnt got a diagnostic cable might have to get one
nooo, all u need is a paper clip, one of your sisters (or brothers) bobby pins or just a 1 inch piece of wire stripped at both ends.
i had a problem once where i would go for a drive, stop the car. then try and start it a few minutes later and no starter motor then by the time the rac guy got there it would start. ended up being the solenoid
do you need a diagnostic cable for a VN ? can't u use a paperclip like the vs ?
i got a plug that plugs in with a switch and i ran take the key out and the iginion off and the car still runs
look under the drivers dash, u will find a rectange female adapter, with the ignition off, bridge holes 5 and 6 on the top row counting from left. turn ignition on and watch your check engine light on the dash. 1 flash, pause, then 2 flashes indicates a code 12 (everything is fine). you follow? theres a thread on here about pulling codes somewhere, think it might be on the main VR-VS thread page.
yeah ya can greenacc. i did it on my old VN sv3800, only difference is the shape of the connector and the location of the computer (inside the passenger kick panel on the left of the footwell. because of the different shape, u have to bridge different holes but dont ask me now, i cant remember, was a while ago.
ok did the diagnostics n its reading 1 flash pause 2 flashs?
I've had a similar problem - overcame it by pulling the key and (whilst in drivers seat) pressed the lock button then the unlock button and then put key in ignition. I find it happens with one of my 2 keys more often than the other - maybe the battery or contacts are going bad. Seems like you turn the key, get the reds, pump primes but no go...then maybe 2 seconds the starter turns (or not). Repeat and all is OK.
could be a whole plethora of things. the car have an immobiliser? how many k's on the clock? i'm guessing you've already wiggled everything that can be wiggled?
Yeah, ive had this problem,i used to just take the key out, turn it around and it would start but id also use the other key and its fine.I think i`d be putting my problem down to a worn key,but yours could be diffrent, for the VS a locksmith dude in my area wanted $100 to replace one key, because he said it had to be recoded to open the doors and stuff.
and u had the same symptoms?
is there anyway 2 bypass the immobiliser?
if its the key, go to nearest holden dealer and they will sort it out. i thought maybe a bad/worn contact with the metal part on the key with the ignition??
Could be worth cleaning the metal strip on the ignition, and the little metal thing on the base of the key head that makes contact with it.
Check to see if the red immobilizer light is not flashing when it happens...If it is, try and press the unlock/lock button on the keyhead and then see if the light turns off then try start.
It does sound like a key head problem. If all else fails, leave the key in ignition (reds) for 45 min...(or the passenger door security override switch in the passenger door piller may help if you have this and the key)
well done guys adjusted the lil metal head thing on the top of the key and hey presto started first go thanx for all ya help and ideas even got a quick run down on diagnostics 101 lol thanx again
