Hey guys. i got a 94 vr v6 which has been making a horrible grinding noise when i take off in first. i thought it may be broken engine mounts causing the engine to tip over, forcing the exhaust into the body, but checked it and its not that. i replaced the front wheel bearings, and all the bushes and shocks. also checked the gear box crossmember which is tight.... so im stumped as to what this noise can be. it only happens when giving it a bit of power..... anyone got an idea what it could be?
Check your exhaust from the front to the back....also try to move the rear end of the transmission side to side - if it moves the mount is shot allowing the engine to rub against the body 'somewhere'. It is an auto?
when you nail it, you will feel the motor jumping up and down rapidly, but on a normal takeoff wont be noticeable, if it is the engine mounts.
exhaust has been checked all the way. engine doesnt shift much under load either. engine mounts were replaced 6 months ago anyway. tested it the other day by loading it up and releasing.. its not moving. the gear box wont budge either so im lostits driving me nuts. been to 2 suspension specialists and everything they suggested was to no avail...
Check the ac compressor clutch/bearings. (unlikely).
Check all the other pulleys by taking the belt off and spinning it.
