Hi there. I have a 2.5 inch exhaust and CAI blah blah and i was wondering how much of a benifit i will actually get from extractors? Like for 500 dollars it doesnt seem all that worth it from what i have heard. I could be wrong, anyone willing to add their experiences?
Cheers
unless youre planning on doing work to your car engine wise, a lot of it, then no. not worth it

If you want a little more kick mid-top end then go for it but dont be expecting miracles, a slightly different exhaust note and a little more push (similar to a sports exhaust versus a stock exhaust) expect around 10-15 kilowatts at the wheels with a full exhaust setup & higher flowing filter (extractors n exhaust with a cold air induction/high flow filter element)

the stock manifold is decent, but good extractors will be better. Try and get some good secondhand ones from a wrecker , cos for say $150 the equation sounds a lot more appealing. Depends how you drive too, if you like to push it you will like extractors
They are worth it.
Even just in a daily run about where you occasionally kick it in the guts. Great fun, and i think it's worth the bang for the buck personally

you'll notice SFA difference with them. $50-100 per kw doesnt really sound like bang for buck. spend the money on a tune, and a service, and youll probably get the same effect. any difference would be in your mind really

That depends how much power you have to start with$50-100 per kw doesnt really sound like bang for buck
I reckon the extractors are a total go-er.
I definately noticed a difference in the note, performance and fuel economy of my vp manual v6 when I fitted mine! - went form like 450km/tank to about 500km/tank! and sounded heaps crispier and healthier!
I think you should find out what they do and how they work before you say "I don't think they're worth it"....
If you plan on doing any mods to your car, this is usually the first port of call.
Extractors are called such because they aid in the removal of exhaust gas from the combustion chamber as the exhaust valve opens and the piston forces the gas out, keeping this gas velocity up means that with cam overlap (intake valve beginning to open as the exhaust valve closes) the exhaust gas leaving the cylinder pulls fuel air mixture into the cylinder through the inlet valve(otherwise known as 'scavenging'), effectively putting more fuel and air in compared to a standard manifold. This increases power, torque and economy in most cases and in some cases, decreases combustion chamber temperatures.
There is a LOT more science in it than that, but that's the basics for you.
IMO, they are worth it, even if you don't plan to mod your car any more, because in all the times i've fitted them to my car, you can notice the better economy on long trips if anything.
Hope this helps.

well, they are a better replacement when u find the passenger side exhaust manifold cracked, every car ive had with cast iron headers have had that one cracked, and the same with my mates 2000 model vs ute
