Best performance parts under $2000 for VS V6

Hi All,

I don't know much about cars but i would like to get some more performance out my my VS V6. I don't have much to spend maybe somewhere about $1500 - $2000 and i really don't want to get ripped off so i thought i would ask you guys. Whats would be the best mods to get for my car that would give me the most performance for money?

I would really love to hear some opinions

Also if possible could you add the best brand/model for the part and how much i should be spending to buy the part. Again I'm trying not to get ripped off, so if i at least know what i want and i get some quotes.

That was a lot of reading for not much information.....

At the end of the day $2k will give you bugger all...there isn't much you can do to a V6 and make it go hard unless you go forced induction. Spend the money on making it look pretty, there's nothing worse than blowing money on something that doesn't really work.

IMO, hi ratio rockers, extractors and a decent exhaust will give you more torque. That is what you want. Diff gears will give you more acceleration off the line too. You won't get much change out of $3k for those.

go the high ratio rockers/pushrods first, then an exhaust. that should do you for your 2k. I had ported heads in my old vs too and they worked a treat but can get pricey.

I would go exhaust first (gives you the impression of more power, but it really just makes it 'sound fast'), then some roller rockers, then diff gears and a shift kit (I assume it's an auto?).

Rockers: $700
Exhaust: $300 for cat back (add another $600 for extractors if you want them)
Diff gears: $ depends on where you get the gears from and how much fitting them costs
Shift kit: $300-$400 including a service

So that's your $2000 gone. It will give it some more poke, but don't expect to make a V6 quick on the cheap

the cheapest of all mods would be a high flow air filter or CAI for under$100. A set of decent shocks will make it ride a lot better too.
