VS V6 Auto problems

:ranting: I was driving home last night and my check engine light came on. It has done that once before and it turned out my front engine sensor needed replacing. As i tried to take off from the traffic lights i discovered my car was stuck in third. I know only have 2nd and 3rd when the check engine light is on and have all gears when it is off. Any ideas????

I would be checking the speed sender at the back of the gearbox(trans) if you haven't got any speed pulse it wont change gears, you need to do a diagnostic check too, this should help
