My VQ statesman wont start, It turns over but wont start suggesting fuel is not getting into the engine or the coil isnt sparking. Dont know much about theese cars can anyone suggest some basic things to check.
And tell me where i can find the fuel line so i can disconnect it and see if fuel is reaching the engine.
Also is it still safe to check if the coil works by putting metal into the end of the main plug from the coil and turning it to see if it sparks?
Havnt worked on cars in a while and not ones of this year era.
Could be that the immobilizer isn't turning off. Does the security light flash when you are trying to start it. It could also be many other things.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
my car did this to me this morning, 4:45 am and I drive my supervisor to work as he lost his lisence, so not good.
I ignored the car and called the boss, let him know I was rooted and that his wife would ahve to drive us, got home went over to the car, tried again, still nothing, got dad to turn the key while I hit the fuel tank with my hand, VROOOOM, first shot and I got it, faulty fuel pump, give that a go maybe :P
No, secruity light doesnt flash, im ganna try the immobilizer bypass trick now dont know how long it will take, doubt it will work thow. If it doesnt ganna have to find the fuel line and make sure fuel is getting to the engine.
do you have a similar car to the VQ? because i have reason to belive my troubles are fuel pump related. ive had similar troubles before as in:
i would park the car with about 15% fuel in it go to start it.. wouldnt start... dump 10 litres fuel in it starts....
this time ive dumped 20 litres in the tank... might give kicking the tank a go.
ive tryed to override the immobilizer by leaving the ignition on for an hour no luck... you can hear the fuel pump working when you turn the key....however i cant get any spark from the distrubutor.
I tested this by getting a screw driver and shoving it into one of the spark plug leads and then grounding it did this at night with different ground sources no spark at all.... is there a better way to test this?
went to check the points on the distributor itself and OMFG it could not have it it in a worst spot. Will try and have a look when its a bit lighter.
Anyone out there offer any other advice? like maybe resetting the computer etc? thx.
Run a diag test by bridging port 5 with port 6 on the Diagnostic Connector
got codes :
12 = NO RPM signal
31 = Theft Deterrent Signal Missing
my key doesnt seem to let me change batterys... i find it hard to beleive that it would be my immobiliser but maybe... its the stock stanard one that came with all VQ statemans.. any else have any other ideas? thx.
Correction: Just rest my computer by pulling the fuse for the engine in the box under the bonnet out for 5 mins.
tryed to start my car didnt work.
did the diagnostic test on the computer and only get code 12 not 31.
12 = NO RPM signal.
what could be the cause of this? besides the engine obviosuly not starting.
