    Exclamation Engine Mounting

    Hello Everyone.
Im dropping a rebuilt v6 into my vr series II. The left mount goes in nice and smooth but the studs on the right side mount will not line up. Iv twisted turned, pulled, lifted, lowered the motor in every angle u can think of but to no success. I have had a poke around on this forum with the search tool only to find its not a very pleasent job to undertake. So if u have done this and would like to post some hints, tricks, advice, photos i would appreciate anything. Im going to try and undo half of the mount, line up the studs then use the engine mount bolts to alighn the mount back to the block.

its easier with the mounts bolted onto the motor and lower it onto the kframe

Thats how I do it, although 90% of the time one mount will go in and the other will be 1/2 an inch or so out, so a bar on the bolts and a shove and POP all done.

sometimes if your lucky when you let the weight off it will drop in by itself but with the mounts on is way to go

Yep, leave the mounts attached to the engine. The trick is to drop one side in, it doesn't matter much which, start the nuts on that side and lift/roll the engine so that the studs for the other side just rest on the engine mount pad on the K-member. Then use a screwdriver angled between the studs to twist and pull one stud into its hole. The other stud can then be twisted into place using the first stud as a pivot point for the screwdriver. It's made easier if the screwdriver is close to the base (mount end) of the stud you don't want to move and close to the K-member end of the stud you do. The engine will drop into place so no fingers between the mount and the K-member.

must be different with ecotec then cause i tried everything scared of breaking the mounts so undid one put it on the k-frame first and went straight in.

haha, them mounts are pretty tough, and the bolts are damn near impossible to strip.

Having said that, set out to do it and you will.
