Hey guys,
I want to lower my VS Exec and have a few questions.
My car has a solid rear axel and is completly stock expept for short Monroe GT gas rear shocks (p.n. 15-0166).
I want to get supper low King Springs and was told by a guy at the local suspension place that they usually put super lows in the frount and ultra lows in the rear. What do people think about this???
Also I want to put new frount struts in at the same time (to save pulling them out twice). A friend of mine has some standart struts he can sell me cheap (Monroe Sensatrac) can some one please let me know if standard hight struts will work with super lows of should I get shorter ones???
Does anyone know how Sensatrac compare to GT Gas???
Is it a good idea to get seccond hand shocks (they are in good condition)???
Thanks
I dont know what you mean by shorter struts?
You can either get adjustable strut tops or shorter shocks.
Shorter shocks are recommended but with superlows its entirely up to you.
the strut its self is not shorter, but the shock inside the strut is why? well if you put shorter springs inside a standard strut there not going to be captive they will just be wobbling around loose.
*edit when you purchase short stroke shocks for the front your buying the whole strut anyway im not aware of how you can just change the front shock and not the strut? correct me if im wrong*
fair enough, but doesnt that kind of defeat the point of having short stroke shocks? have you ever had a car with lowered springs and standard fronts? you can move the spring around freely because its not captive..hence the reason for having the lowered front struts...
the strut is only the bass of the spring and shock, the strup top goes onto that.
the basic strut bass is always the same even if you buy a full kit the only difference is the spring and shock and also the top depending if you buy adjustable
Hi guys,,
can anyone answer this question please??

thats just how they do it I guess, imo ultras at the back will be pretty rough and whack the bump stops, even with good mid range shockies.
I went super lows all round, standard height shocks at the front no movement of the spring, but had to get shorter shocks in the rear as when jacked up the rear spring could be removed :P
Maybe talk to a few other suspension joints and get a few ideas.
