Default Locating the EFI or DFI Module in a 96 VS

    Hey Guys,

Have just heard back from the Mechanics today and he said i need another EFI (OR DFI, i couldn't hear him properly) Module. He quote me $600 for a Brand New EFI or DFI Module and that was Fitted. I' am happy to replace this myself, but would like some guidance on where i can locate the EFI or DFI Module so i can replace it.

    Any help would be great

    Thanks in Advance

    Brett

the DFI Module is located below the ignition coils, its the base, i wouldnt know how much, u could call say repco or holden and get a price. its easy enough to replace, i've done this recently on mine.

Well, EFI normally stands for Electronic Fuel Injection. I havent heard of an EFI module in the car. The DFI module sits below the coil packs. It is normally very reliable. Can you describe your problems? Not to say it wont fail, just unusual.

You can pick up a used DFI module with the coil packs for probably $50 on ebay or wreckers. Would not pay $600 ever for it. Takes about 5 minutes to replace with nothing more than a 10mm (or so) socket. Personally I would be happy to install a second hand one simply because they dont normally play up

Just be careful, sometimes different mechanics will refer to the same part with a different name or acronym. He might have meant something completely different.

    Hey Guys,

    Thanks for the speedy reply...

My car was losing power, idling very rough and my Exhaust was glowing red and orange when i took it out to some back roads to open up the Injectors as i had just put some Injector Cleaner through it.

The Mechanic said he put a second hand Module and said it was running like new again. I was at work at the time and he did say it was either the EFI Module or the DFI Module, but will find out tomorrow what it was When i pick up my car. Will then head out to the wreckers and get another one.

I had already replaced 3 Spark Plugs in the drivers side, All the Spark Plug Leads, the Inlet Manifold Gaskets and also a new return fuel line (From the Engine bay to the Inlet Manifold).

    Cheers

Yeah that's the DFI module. They are pretty expensive brand new, i had the one in my old VP V6 replaced, didn't cost that much as i got it brand new through my mechanic at a cheaper price, but yeah, still wasn't cheap.
