Default How big can brakes go before changing booster and master

Just a thought, some people in pre-VS commodores use a VS brake bits when they go to larger disc's and callipers. When any1 in a pre-VT upgrades to the VT onwards brakes, its best to use VT booster and master to avoid the sh!t brake pedal feel.So how big can brakes go into a VS before they need VT gear used.

And one more thing, did the VS II V8's get a slight brake upgrade at all???

The vt brake upgrade has 2 pistons per front side versus the vn-vs having only 1 so i would imagine thats why the larger booster is needed, but dont quote me on that.

i say if you're going to upgrade the discs and calipers, you might as well do the whole 'kit' and use the booster and master that work with them!

i did the whole lot and they are sensational on the slightly lighter VS chassis
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

The twin piston set up requires more fluid to be displaced, that is why the VT master cylinder is used, it has a 1" bore. Using the original master cylinder leads to excessive pedal stroke.

don't the VT onwards M/C have a "fast fill" stepped 1 1/4" bore? the booster is also better. with the VS you screwed becasue the only ever came out with the 15/16" m/c, atleast on the earlier models you could upgrade from the 15/16" V6 m/c to the 1" V8 m/c on the same booster

My former best mate put VT brakes on his VS series 1 berlina(V6) and the pedal felt crap like the brakes didnt have enough bite.My car, almost exactly the same(only difference at all was mine is a V8,IRS and series 2) yet mine braked alot better with stock brakes.I heard some time ago that the VS II V8's have a brake upgrade from series 1,how true i dont know.Im also sure the the VS 5.7L GTS and Senator had twin piston callipers yet it wasnt the same as the VT brakes.

Yes some of the vs hsv's did have twin spot calipers and they are different from the vt version. Im pretty sure they are also finned like the standard single spots.

HSV would have offered brake upgrades. not sure what the HSV solution was for the VS booster and m/c. forthe VS holden went with the plastic fantastic booster and m/c setup. this was obviously a failure because they changed it again for the VT.

No matter what brakes, std or HSV came on VS's they all had the same plastic booster and 7/8"fast fill master cyl (same style as VT but smaller ).
I'm running VT HSV 330mm fronts and VN GrpA 280mm rears with the stock VS setup and all rubber lines replaced with braided ones and the brakes are great.
