Checking Errors + Rough Idle/Start

Hey Guys,

Tried to check for error codes today in my VS 3.8L, I placed the paperclip into pins 5 and 6 like the guide in the How-To section showed. However instaed of getting the usual 12 code first up, there are no dash lights at all when I put it in the ON Position. PS. I tried pushing the pin in further/less etc made no difference.

Wanting to check to see if CAS/O2 Sensor is causing a problem, when the car is hot after I have driven it for a while it is hard to start, (poured cold water on the Crank and it kicks over fine), sounds like CAS?

mate ur ment to turn the ignitor but not kicker it over.... all ur lights on ur dash should light up ... u use a wire for soildering when i check mine... also ull hear the fan turn on ...

I understand that, and I didnt kick it over, I read the How-To and turned it so the usual lights come on, and u can hear the fuel pump kick in, however still no lights.

You might be confusing dash lights with warning lights - its the latter which will be lit and the "check Engine" warning light will flash.

Is your "check Engine" bulb out not working mybe??

Change the cas mate. Common fault.
I didn`t get a code error and the car cut out at 60k/hr.

Will get the CAS replaced in the next few days, I have had the Coil/Plugs/Leads etc replaced about 4 months ago cause it was misfiring beyond belief. that fixed the problem, but still idled and sounded rough as guts, So CAS is the next culprit.

In regards to the engine light, it works when the pins arent bridged but as soon as the 5 and 6 pins are bridged, no warning (engine light) sequence comes on at all.... weird
