If you dont have electric windows I've seen twin cup holders moulded in to the space where the window switches go.
Otherwise get hold of a VS series2or3 arm rest with the cupholder built in.
You do have to modify the arm rest to free the cup holder and it is only for one cup.

I had the idea the other day of somehow using an old CD drive out of a computer...I'm sure someone could make that work somehow.
The glovebox ones are useless. I just use the centre console

EDIT: Or this: Yes, its the cup issue again...

Nah man, Its about 2cm too narrow (I tride it).

Today I picked up the cupholder out of a '95 subaru legacey wagon. Pretty tidy little unit, single din wide and about 25mm high. Fits in with a screw either side into the dash frame, just below thw HU. Gonna stick it in my VR when I get the time.

If anyone else wants toi try this, pop the blastic sliding bit out by pushing the little button at the back in between the two cup holders, slide the metal shaft out and sand all the crap off, then wipe it down with some kind of assembly lube. This will keep it from sticking and keep the action nice and smooth.

There is a holden magazine on sale now. I dont remember which 1.

There is an article on doing the consol lid conversion for a cup holder, same as ^.

It's on the cover, so it shouldn't be hard to find!

    Cheers, Col.

I brought a cup holder from supercheap that sits in the window, it was about $4, works well.

i customised my own. Used the twin flip out holders (with the base supports) from a wrecked subaru. Modified the center console lid to accommodate the assembly.

so when they are not needed they slide in out of the way, when needed they are at the push of a button!

will get some pics up soon

just looked at other vr/s commodores and i found out ours is a freak. a mate has 2 bits of pvc pipe in hie. one each side of the console . 2 screws hold them in. never spilt a drop.. must have a bottom cap on it to work or cans drop out.
