VR Calais Owners

Hi All, I jus purchased a 93 VR CALAIS and would lyke feedback from other fellow owners about any faults they have encountered while owning one. Mine has 190000 kms on tha clock.

fuel pump....my gearbox is slippin wen i thrash it sometimes......and my power steering makes a funny noise wen i turn the wheel without moving tha car....like i wanna park the car n wen i move the wheel to turn....it feels like the car is gonna die on me if i dont hit the accelerator wen i turn the wheel so i dunno wat the problem is

Yeh I have had the brakes redone on mine, the powersteering is a common problem with them, so is the vally gasket and the heater core, other stuff to look out for to when modding but there are heaps of thread covering it, so if you having a issue with one thing do a search and there should be heaps

HI,

I believe that there is a sensor that ups idle speed when the power steering is demanding lots of power, i.e. lots of lock.

Alternative is to permanently up the idle speed.

Valley Gasket leaks coolant. yay
Steering rack noisy & has a loose tie - replace ! yay

otherwise it's general service stuff like wheel alignment (front & back), auto service, aircon service (expensive if neglected). Well, it is 10 years old. Otherwise, it's still pretty tight.

I bought a 93 vr calais last week and ahs teh same problems, brakes need machining, coolant leak and steering rack noisy when I turn without moving, otherwise nice car

I have a 93 VR Calais with 180k and the only repair work I have done so far is replacing the whole antenna assembly because it stopped retracting. Sometimes when idling, it feels like it is going to stall. I think the throttle body needs cleaning but it doesn't happen very often anymore.

My dad owned it before me, before upgrading to a VY. He had a few small problems but nothing major. There was a problem with the air conditioning and every so often a valve makes a loud griding noise but apparently it is harmless. It is a fantastic car.

93 Vr Calais 220,000km - Reconditioned Steering rack, ABS Mater Cylinder and Lines, Front Brake Rotors, Radiator and various climate control parts done at 218,000km. I also have a problem with my temperature gauge but ill get that fixed when i get my next service.
