Hey guys. I'm droppin' the car off for a road-worth/rego on Wenesday & I was going over it today & found a leak (oil).
It's coming from infront of the tranny pan, near the steering rack. It's the where the transmission meets the engine. Not sure of the name, but it's the round bit with a hole in the bottom (bell housing). The oil is building up around the bolts, then running down, forming & dripping where the hole is. I'm not sure if it's coming from inside the hole or not.
I got under it, & gave it a good scrub with degreaser so I can suss out the source a bit better. But in the mean time, could anyone fill me in on what the cause would be?
I don't wanna point it out to the mechanic before the roadworthy, unless its a simple fix.
P.S; I also found a slow leak on the 'rack pad adjusting nut', will I need a new o-ring for this or can I just get the mechanic to tighten it up for me? (I don't have the tool for it)
Cheers again fellas. Seems like I'm here every second day with a new problem.![]()

Check the rocker covers - they usually are prone to leak and the oil runs down to where you're talking about.
Not sure about the PS leak...try degreasing with spray degreaser and see if it returns. Always pays to degrease again the day before a RWC.
Nah, not the rocker covers. Only just replaced 'em. I was getting smoke coming off the headers, thought it might be the rocker covers so I changed the gaskets. Ended up being a split hose on the arse-end of the intake-manifold.
Yeah, I got under the car & gave it a good scrub. Went through 6 cans of degreaser and a ****load of rags & toothbrushes. That's why I'm spotting leaks.
But yeah the rack pad adjusting nut is still leaking.
