g'day guys for about a year now my can has been very very rough on start but it only happens when the car has been sitting there for more than 5 hours
its like the air cannot escape or its not gfetting enough air or fuel
the rac man came out and the fuel pump is reading the correct current draw the fuel filter has been changed i have a set or reco injectors and some1 told me i might have a blocked up cat so i now have a metal cat installed i am still having problems in the last few weeks it has been getting worse and where it used to take 1 min to get better it now can take up to 2-3 mins before the car starts to run normal i am gettign car supercharged in a week so i want it fixed before i get this done i have also done dfi module, coil packs, crank angle sensor, extractors and a 2.5inch exhaust
when u say coolent sensor do u mean temp sender or something else as the temp sendor has only just been changed and there a no vacume leaks.
a mechanic has said that he is unsure if its definate but it sounds like the car isnt getting enough fuel when it starts up so could be from wateva keeps fuel presure up when car is off but it only happens when car is off for over 4 hours??
anybody have any input i have never heard of a car oing this another forum member has had same problem he pm about it he is also on the lookout for an answer
after cranking it for a bit without it starting pull the plugs out and see if they're covered in oil?
I had the same promblem with a VP first thing every morning, except I would shut it down and restart it and it would come good ,never did find the promblem (but I never realy looked)
Do you think it migth be dropping cyclinders on a cold start up and it migth be coil or dfi related? or possibly the IAC valve stuffing up ?
Could be the ignition crank angle sensor. mine was giving me grief. Sits behind harmonic balancer on crank, balancer may need to be replaced as you heat the bugger to undo the bolt to remove it.
I'd be doing a compression check.
I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a leaking fuel injector. Not saying this is the problem but after you have exhausted all the other member suggestions and the problem is still there, return to the injectors for another look. Try removing the fuel feed into the injector rail thus releasing fuel presure off the injectors, and leave it off overnight.
Before starting the car the next day, connect the fuel line back on and see if it starts easier.
ok i have replace injectors not too long ago like 5000kms and it was doing it before and after
i have replaced the crank angle sensor and dfi module and 2 of the coil packs not the third one but yer the problem only happens at start up so its hard to get a mechanic to diagnose unless i leave it there overnight and as i need it its a bit hard
just be careful dont rule a part out because its new,you will be surprised how many are defective ,
yer vsl67 just meant that as i have had those parts stuff up before i know what sort of failure they were making at the time of failure and this is completly different to anything that happened and the iac thats just on throttle body is it might have a look at that this week sometime as its when it comes off idle and does anyone know where the coolent temp sensor i know theres the temp sender on the thermostat housing but is there another one somewhere??
havent yet got the time to chek the fuel reg yet either and may not get to do so for a week as car is gogin in to get a bit of panel work done
