Default vr level 3 dash questions

    hi all im new here.....

i need some help with the level 3 dash upgrade from thoes who know and or have done the conversion.

i have the dash and mode switch on there way but no wiring yet, im just wondering what is needed and what needs to be done.

i am a quillifyed mechanic and i do know what im doing but need to know how to do it. and if im successful i might even wright up a tech article.

its going in a vr equipe 1995 series 2 and currently has the std dash.

It will plug straight into the original plugs in the back same as the original one would and the analogue dials will go
how i got the digital part going youll need the plug on the bottom and i just looked at the writing next to the plug where it has a number and what the wire goes to then went and joined them to the matching wire in the original loom
theres a yellow/black wire labeled eff and that one goes to the yellow/black wire coming out of the ecu and also the bottom plug joins to the mode switch.
also just watch out what green wire you connect the temp sensor to because i got mine on the wrong one and the temp light kept beeping and coming on and theres a couple of green wires down there
its pretty simple and all the wires should colour match onto the original loom
    hope that helps

just put the dash in and noticed one thing, there is no chimes as in handbrake and low fuel, did series 1 calais or statesman have this function. my series 2 vr one did and it was quite good to an extent.

the only other thing i havnt done yet is the lcd bits i havnt wired them in, so i have no odo etc. does the chime on the level 3 dash go through that part of the dash?.

also i have the wiring lume here but far too lazy at the moment to put it in, i thinkin its a weekend job

just an update i finally did the conversion propley and yes everything works a treat.
bit of a pain in the ass getting the dash pad off but got it in the end.
took all up 3 to 4 hours thats including soldering and stuffing around with the stero etc.
looks 100% better and all functions work correctly
now i just need to drive the ting so the dash can calculate everyting correctly.
and yes both low fuel and handbrake chims (hand brake on at approx 20km/h) work cruise control works etc

a big thank you too all who have helped me out i know i was a big pain in the ass but thankyou thankyou all....

Got one of those trip computer controls (VR/VS) today and it had no globe in it. I pulled the PCB out and yes the hole in it is for a globe.

what was the colour of the extra wire? i have a black and yellow one coming from there going nowhere and doesnt seem to change anything.
as long as the brown wire is hooked up to the correct one the lights should work, being 2nd hand itd be a blown bulb most likely

I know its all done but you didnt have to take the dashpad off...just undo the lugs out of connector 1 release the cable tie barbs and the whole loom will slide out with some patience...pull a draw wire with it so you can pull the new one back in ..too easy.

its the same as the berlina calais and statesman/caprice level 3 dash, level 2 has a tacho and level 1 has a spedo only (fuel gauge as well)
