Does anybody know if I can simply replace the surround or do I have to get it "programmed" to suit my key?
I believe that the two metal tabs on the surround provide the resistance contact for identifying the key as programmed to the car, but is the surround a simple "one part suits all" replacement?
Hope I'm not asking an already covered topic, but I couldn't find a clear answer for this one. (S'pose I could ring the dealer?!??)
Thanks
the key is coded to the BCM so the ignition surround is identical for all cars.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response mate! Does anyone have a spare one lying around? (Gee I'm tight, aren't I?) Any ideas on cost?
