Ok,
I have had this issue checked alot of times, guess the 2 mechanics I took it to didnt see it, For the past 5 months I have not been able to drive over 80km/h.
If I did the steering wheel would almost jump out of my hand, so today, My back rear went flat, so I put on the spare and wollah... No vibration tested it up to 140km/h.
I have had the tires replaced with new ones an vibration was still there, so Is this likely to be caused by a bent RIM?
Also am I best buying a new spare including RIM or try a refit on that RIM, where would I buy a spare rim and tire? Wreckers?
Cheers
It seems very strange that a bent rim wasn't picked up when tyres were fitted and balanced. What may be causing it is wear in the front end especially worn shocks which can 'cup' the tyres and make them wear irregularly....this then puts them out of balance even when the rim is perfect. From the sound of it your suspension may need checking and aligning also check brakes for grabbing. Try running your open hand over the tyre surface and see if you can detect any variations such as cupping or heel and toe wear.
Best place for 2nd hand rims is tyre places that sell mags as they always have standard rims which they usually dump. (actually the dump is also a good place)
