Ive got a VR Senator with the HSV extractors going to a twin two and a half system 2 cats and 2 mufflers, and my brother has a VN v8 Calais with pacies and a single 3" which splits into 2 cats then joins into a muffler then he has one of those electronic exhaust mufflers after that to make it more quieter if he needs. his is was louder then mine, but mine is still way loud. also all our mates say his is louder but mine sounds better... he lives near the top of a hill and mines still loud enough that he can hear me comming all the way up the hill to get there no probs even if i dont give it to it...

Twin 2.5" sounds wild on a 5L but a bit big unless you go FI or a huge cam

My VR SS runs a twin 2.5" with dumpers

Buy whatever comes up at a good price man, a single 3" will probably be cheaper but go second hand if you can, save heaps of money over a new system. Leave catalytic converter as is, and get some extractors, these will give the motor that V8 burble

That's the rules for exhausts for dummies anyway man cbf writing more about it lol

Go a single 3 inch with a set of Pacies, into a hot dog into a single muffler. Or if you want to go obscenely and probably illegal loud, don't worry about the muffler lol.

When I set up my dumpers for the second time (current setup) I was going to go with a single hotdog in each side.. wish I had. It's loud at the moment, don't get me wrong, I just wish I'd have done it properly and been stupid loud haha

Hearing an LS1 ute with twin 2.5" dumpers and just hotdogs not even 2 days after getting my setup redone, that just rubbed it in my face

Hehe Ive seen this VY/Z RedBull promotional ute driving around the northern suburbs in WA and my god it needs to be heard. dunno exactly what sized exhaust but im guessing at least 3" with 2 massive cannons on the back, I saw it stationery from the rear first and then it took off and the sound was amazing.
Soo ****ing loud one of the loudest cars ive ever heard man how can that be legal?

It probably isn't. Just because something is on the road does not mean it's legal. Mine sure isn't, the exhaust doesn't even make it past the diff... I've driven the car as a daily for near on 2 years now and never been pulled up for it, even though there is no exhaust cutout in the rear bar.

Hahaha lol Savage - thought of doing that... Paranoid about being pulled up over but there are so many other things to point out besides a short muffler lol. My exhaust system wouldnt pass at all... I hope a cop dont read this. Read in a magazine not too long ago about some bloke bragging about doing something in his car, can't quite remember, im not sure if this stage involved a cop - but a cop read his net bragging at the time and he got booked haha

Is it really that simple? My twin 2.5" is pretty fkn loud compared to my mate's single 3"... i spose it depends on muffler design and a few other factors as well...

Single 3' is loud as, i got one on mine. Infact it was to lound and it droned horribly at low rpm. Problem was though it was just a loud roar which is ok if its what you want. But i wanted a nice low grumble. I got that nice grumble when i fitted the extractors, its got a quality sound to it now and it has actually quietened the exhaust a bit too.
If you just want lound wank factor, id go single 3'.

Actually if you want loud wank factor, I'd buy my car.. competition headers, high flow cats, twin 2.5" with 3" dumpers about 2 feet short of the diff.. when you add in the scream of the gear drives you're listening to a pretty stupidly awesome sounding car.. but that's just me

Well the ute I saw was a company car had RedBull number plate, stickers etc and just happened to be a monster. im sure my car is 'too' loud but ive seen cammed ls1 make tonnes of noise and they have a lower DB limited 79 or 84 i cant remember but that damn ute sounded like a man was screaming down your fkn ear from half a metre away.

If I see police i go no higher than 2000rpm if they are behind me and if they are in front of me I just go another way lol
