I have checked redbook and the estimate they give is just to varied, although I am guessing as good as it gets. However if someone here can give me an idea on how much I should advertise it for it would be much appreciated.
1996 VS exec sedan. Auto 4spd. Rego to FEB 2009, includes RWC. Genuine 216754 on the clock. Ex police pursuit car. Car is in good condition. I only got this car 2 months ago, spent over 1400 buck making it safe and reliable with the intention of giving to my niece who in turn flogged it, so I took it back.
Idea's on value will be appreciated.

V8 or V6?
id say maybe 2-3 k if your lucky. for a 6
maybe low 3's for an 8.
Yep I am kinda thinking about the same in dollars as you mentioned and its a V6.
well.
i bought my vr v6 auto. a year ago for 3000 with 10 months rego. mags etc
Yes I know what I paid for it and what I put into it. I am asking, seeing as this is a forum for commodores, a possible value. As I already stated (Which you must have missed) that Redbook say from 900 - 3400. Kinda varied dont ya think? If you only bought the car 2 months ago then surely you must know what it is worth??? .
As per above reply. I do not intend on flaming you back!Looks like a thinly disguised way of getting around the "for sale" rules to me
Redbook I have done. But thanks for the tip on ebay, never thought of trying there, thank you.Check out red book, the trading post or ebay for what others are asking
will be very intrested what u get for it, i know in wa i could sell my vr bt1 v6 for about 3 to 4 k
there is always p platers that dont know jack, if it looks good, runs and sounds the part they will buy anything. Had a vn lexcen i was going to chuck and engine into and i had people intrested at 3 grand there is always sumone out there willing to buy over inflated items. mate sold his vt series 2 exec for 13 k 18 months ago
I am starting to think its at that 2500 mark....shame seeing as the dollars I put into it. I will post back what I get for it. I do know thou after reviewing ebay and the couriermail site and carsales etc that these are from anywhere between 2800 and 4200, in same cond as mine.
Thanks again for all comments.
:-)
so depends on location, red book cannot really be trusted, as in vic u may have a vs sedan selling for 1500 in wa u can get one for about 3500 in reasonable condition. location seems to matter
Understand your point. But surely there is only a % factor here between states? Maybe 5% - 15%???
well over here we get alot of cars send across for resale, mainly from vic and queensland. If i was to buy a new car it would be cheaper to fly to queens land and pic one up, and drive it back. works out cheaper by quite a few grand even with the costs added on. another thing about getting a car from vic and nsw is because of their licencing the the fact u have to take it over the pits every year or sumthing, your garenteed its gonna cost bugger all to take them over the pits here.
Yeah thats true.... the whole in QLD only when the car is sold is a safety certificate required and in the other states every 12 months, certainly add to the cost. interesting reading here - https://fac.dhs.vic.gov.au/home.aspx...contentID=3287
So you really on P platers to buy your overpriced cars well thats lame anyways. 1500 is stupid so Id say start at 3k
please explain how its cheaper to buy a car overstate instead of in WA, we only have 1 payment when we buy a car and thats Stamp Duty.
When I bought my VR it had 2 months rego on it, after I bought it my only fee was stamp duty which was about $200
so to own the car in my name it cost me $200 dont have to get RWC or any other ****. So by that logic to make a saving on a car worth 10k in WA it would have to be about 7-8k from another state and then you gotta get it ferried over, then pass the pits in WA and VIC too probably. How is that cheaper?
Well I persoanlly wouldnt prey on any1, P platers or not!!! After all the info I have gathered I put it up on a few net sites for $2800 and will go from there. Will post back if I sell it.

Are you looking at cars in the same state. Prices even vary widely from WA to SA to the eastern states.
