    Exclamation gearbox problem

    hi
    got a problem lately my auto gearbox been having problems it wont shift into 1st and if it does it takes like 30 - 40sec to do so and wont go into 4th ethier can someone please help me....

    time to start looking for a replacement im afraid, how old and how many km's are on it do you know?

    it was only just replaced with a second hand one

    my statesman did this would rev really high then slam into gear took it to a trans specialist and they pin pointed it was the throttle position switch on the throttle body, changed it over never had a problem afterwards maybe not your problem but worth a shot if a mate of yours has the same car grab his sensor n give it a shot

    Check for error codes first as it may give you an indication of the problem. Use the instructions at:

    is it not engaging the gear ? or is it in gear and slipping ? sounds to me like its low on oil, I'd check the color and smell of the oil while its running in park and at normal temp, smell the oil for a dirty smell, if it was just put in it should be red or slightly pinkish, otherwise u might be looking @ the throttle sensor, you could get a diagnostic run on the box for electrical problems
