Default power button how does it work, if it does?

what exactly does the econ/power button do in my vs i understand they are in other models too and makes

different people have told me differnet things (does nothing, affects the shifts, changes air fuel ratio etc)

it seems it may go a bit better with pwr on and uses more fuel but what does it do ?

    cheers

I changes both the speed the shifts change at and also the shift pressure (firmer shifts) that's it

there are a million answers to this next question that I am about to ask on these forums, BUT!

Once and for all, Foamy help me out here, is it safe to use PWR around town? and or on the highways or even, just push it in and leave it like that?

Here is the quote from the VS Series Owners Handbook:
"""The transmission operates in two types of modes: power and economy. The PWR reminder light on the instrument panel will glow when in the power mode.
Economy mode is recommended on normal or freeway driving, as it gives better fuel economy. Power mode has revised automatic transmission shift points, to give the car a more responsive feel."""

So, in a nutshell, PWR will allow the engine to rev higher before it shifts to the next gear plus, as the engine is revving higher the shift will be more responsive (read jerky) due to the change in revs.

For towing, the handbook recommends using "3" instead of "D"..... or "D" with the PWR mode on.

this is all true apart from one more factor ; when you have %80 or more throttle down its is the same as having the pwr switch on.

Mine was driven in "economy" its whole life until I got it and now drive it in "Power" mode.
When i shifted from power back to economy and put my foot down it blew my trans cooling line and lost compression.
Now I leave it in power mode been good since.

I notice with power mode and the electronic shift kit the gears change harder than with just the electronic shift kit on its own. Also noticed it struggles to get into fourth gear unless pushed harder (so probably equates to bad fuel economy for highway driving).

I always thought that power mode took away fourth gear but I guess it's just that I never go 95km/h with it on so wouldn't know better.
