Default Replacing the rear view mirror

So my girlfriend was doing her makeup in my rear view mirror of my car and she twisted it one too many times and now she has snapped it off completely.

This may sound like a retarded question but does anyone know the process for reattaching a vs commodore mirror. When it broke off the base, the following things broke off (apologies for the ****ty camera phone pictures):

A \____/ shaped piece of metal

    The mirror itself

4 tiny pieces of plastic that were a part of the mirror, i assume they held the metal thing onto the mirror or the mirror onto the base.

Can anyone tell me the easiest way to reattach it? Am I missing any parts? Also I cant figure out which way the piece of metal was facing as it could realistically go either way. I just dont get this setup...i thought rear view mirrors were usually just glued to the windscreen???

Hi, i went through all this a week ago ! The mounting lugs shear off the bracket glued to the windscreen ( see attached pic of where the lugs were ). The solution - wreckers / trading post ( make sure it has all four lugs ) or your local GMH dealer. The ends of the metal clip go onto the mirror, and the raised middle part go against the lug. Hope this helps - GL!

Damn, so there is no fix if the lugs have sheared off? What a crappy design!!! Theres a few mirrors on ebay but they are like $60 inc postage. I have paid less than that for 2 rear taillight assemlies! Seems ridiculous to me.

Window mount on a small metal bracket that is either glued or screwed into the glass.
