hey guys i cant seem to get reverse lights no matter where the auto shifter is (from park to 1st) i have checked the fuses and globes all are fine, wiring looks ok so im thinking about pulling the reverse sensor thing out and maybe pull it apart and see if i can fix it. anyone got any ideas on how to fix it or should i just get a new one from Holden?

    Thanks

I put a few washers under the nuts to "raise" one end of the switch up. Worked for me.

The reverese light switch is a sealed unit so you cant take it apart to try and fix it. A new one from holden should set you back around $30.

I paid $46 from Holden which was expensive for a simple switch - with difficulty the old one can be taken apart and the contacts cleaned but my attempts failed so I opted for a new one.

hey guys, i just spent some time working out how to fix the reverse lights. i tried the washers theory but i would only get reverse lights when it was in neutral. couldnt get them in reverse. so i decided i would try to pull it apart even if i broke it it wouldnt matter because i would need a new one anyway. Well to my amazement i managed to pull it apart and fix it. i have just written up a how to as well. just waiting for the mods to approve it. if anyone desperately wants a copy of the how to just pm me ur email address and i will send it to you in .doc (word 97) format.

Great write-up vsiicalais - when I tried to fix mine I drilled thru the centre and stuffed mine up...looks like you found the secret method.

Whoops just read your "how to" thread and realised that I was talking about a different reverse light switch lol. I was referring to the white plastic reverse light switch that threads into the top of the gearbox (at least the getrag box anyway). Anyway, well done with the how to
