simple, takes at most 20 minutes. just take the belt of, take of the wires to the alternator, then just undo one of the bolts holding the alternator down and lift the alternator a bit, undo the screws holding the regulator in and swap it over. then reversal of what i just said.

Sounds like your battery is also cactus so I'd get that either recharged or replaced and then measure the voltage at the battery with the engine running - should be over 13 volts at idle rising to about 14.3 at 2500 rpm. If the alternator is buggered or otherwise not working you would have had the red "no charge" light on.

I changed my regulator today was putting out 14.1 volts no battery light
Now after 15 minute drive battery light on and only 11.7 at 2500rpm
    ?????????????
