Default VR V6 Engine swap tips/tricks?

    Heya guys,

Ive done a big end bearing in my VR, so its time for a new engine to go in.
I'm fairly mechanically minded so im not shy to dig in and have a go, a mate of mine is helping me do it on the weekend, but I'd like to get started on it after work for a few nights, I need sort of a.. checklist of things to do to get the motor out! That was we can spend a little less time on the weekend.

    Cheers,

    XeKToReX

gregory's maybe, it has the detailed steps needed to get it out. It recommends going out the top but heaps of mechanics say they go out through the bottom (under the car) ??

It's easier if you take the trans out with the engine - also if the aircon still has gas try not to disconnect it and save on regassing. Figure out exactly where you will place the sling on the engine. Don't have your first beer till last engine mount is tightened.

haha, i've got 3 mechanics to help me out, just the little things that are common problems when it comes to removing/reinstalling the motor im lookin for, The trans will be staying in the car, just drop the tailshaft, unbolt it and sit it on a jack until we're ready to bolt it back up.

thanks for the comments already though guys!

things you can do in the mean time: remove the radator coolent, catch it if you can saves the enveroment etc etc etc hoses, any thing that may get in the way when about to remove the engine. remove the exhaust throttle cable cruise cable vaccume lines loosen the engine mounts but leave the bolts in till the hoist/crain is on the engine, and use good quilty d shackels and chain nothing worse than having a engine fall on your head. also have a look at the new motor and see what it needs and if you can remove the componts from the engine in the car might save you some time

im about to do the same job my self on my vr ill most probly be doing this alone on a weekend or on my holidays not too hard of a job bit i hate is going back in and lining up the engine mounts lol.........
