What would be Better?

Hi guys,

I am just wondering which of the following would be better to do. The motor has a blown head gasket and about 280,000km. Would it be better and cheaper to either-

1. Buy some new gaskets and get a mechanic to fit them? Or

2. Buy a low km second hand motor and get a mechanic to fit it?

Also does anyone know an approximate price for each one?

Any help would be much appreciated!

head gasket will be cheaper, but depends on what you wanna do in the future. u can get a second hand motor and get it fitted whilst u rebuild your orig engine then drop it in later.

either way, u'll keep your engine number the same. sorry dont know pricing

Ok thanks mate! In the future i would probably want to get a new engine anyway.

Does anyone know or know from experience how much it would cost at the mechanics to do an engine swap? This is a little bit technical for me to do myself at this stage.
