    Question VS V6 running hot

    Hi
My vs runs very hot if you stop at traffic lights or drive slowly for longish periods. It hasn't overheated yet but it sits around 1.5 bars from red. If I put the aircon on though the temp never goes above 1/2 which is good, but I don't always need the aircon on.
does anyone know what this could be???
    cheers

UPDATE: I forgot to mention that it was recently put in to the shop cause it was pooring out coolant after each drive, they said it was a sticky thermostat and it was s upposed to be fixed. No it doesn't leak but it runs hot, the mechanic said maybe a sensor

Probably due for a coolant change and a new thermostat. If its still pretty hot after that you can drop the thermostat to an 81* instead of the standard 91*

I'd replace the coolant temp sensor which tells the ECU when to turn the cooling fan on - this should fix the problem (this would be what the mechanic suggested) they are cheap and simple to instal.

If I interpret the OP correctly, the thermostat was replaced by the workshop in an attempt to solve the engine overheating and spewing out coolant. Is that right?

If the cooling system has been bled correctly after that work being performed (too many of these posts!), I'd go with the sensor or the sensor wiring/connector too.
