Hey guys,
I am a car and especially a holden nut and have finally just purchased my first commodore. I have bought a VS S Pack in Botanica, with SV5000 wheels in auto for $3100. (The guy didnt know what he was selling is getting very rare and also just wanted to get rid of it.)
The body has a few scratches and marks here and there which is fine and i will address these over time. it has an SS front bar but no foglights which will come soon.
- where do i find these and how much to be fitted?
My mate is a mechanic so we have had it up on the lift and replaced the engine mounts, oil and filter change, new champion gold spark plugs.
i am overseas at the moment but when i get home i am putting it into holden to get the recall on the transmission done (not sure what it is but i have a mate at holden and when i rang up for my radio code he told me it hadn't been done yet.
A catback exhaust, S/C CAI and transmission service will be done as soon as i get home.
I have an issue when starting the car though, when i turn the key it takes a few seconds for the car to start. the car always starts, just takes a bit to start.
when we replaced the spark plugs, No. 6 spark plug was "wet" on one side. He said this might be due to a small misfire or something (not noticable when driving).
Could this be fixed by a new set of leads?
If so, what leads should i get? do performance leads give any real performance advantage?
sorry about the long thread, thanks for all your help!!
lol i meant a car nut and a holden nut!
Only help I can give is re the reluctance for the engine to turn over immediately the key is turned - mine does it every now and then but always starts and from what a few others have said they have the same problem. You can double check that the key reader is making good electrical contact with the key head when inserted and that the key battery is in good shape which usually means the remote works good.
The wet plug could mean lots of things - check it again after you've done a few miles. Welcome.
thanks mate sounds good. i'll change the key battery when i get back in OZ (is it just a normal over the counter battery?)
also my car keeps trying to unlock itself without me pushing the key.
with the two stage unlock, when i press the key to unlock just the drivers door, a few seconds later the car will unlock all the doors by itself and keep trying until the ignition is on. is this an easy fix?
i wanna know more about this recall for teh transmission...like is it free?? didnt think they would do it after such a long time
reson why i ask is cause mine has 83 000 on teh clock and if there was a recall i doubt the old guy that owned the car before me had it done

hey SAVAGE1987
i'm in sydney, thanks for all the help. the CAI and catback will be done almost as soon as i get off the plane!! i only had the car for a week before i flew out so i'm hanging out to drive it and free the engine up a bit.
are there any other mods that you would suggest as a first off besides the above mentioned?
Nope. For a V6 daily cruiser your best bet is to stick with
CAI
cat back 2.5"
greenfoam tune
If you're still feeling the urge, maybe go extractors for the miniscule possible economy gain (I'm about to) and a shift kit in the auto to make it a bit firmer and less lazy between gears

well a stock VS S pac with less than 180,000kms is pretty rare in NSW. i was searching for months for one but they all have HSV kits on them, stupid mods, crap wheels etc.
i wanted something stock and low kms so i could modify it myself to how i wanted it, so i think i found a steal!
exactly right
