Just put two new hub and bearings at the front of my vr, all done up to right spec and noticed that one side when u grab the top and bottom of the wheel and move back and forth has a little movement, is this normal or did i get sold a dud? cheers

I can't remember if the VR has bearing cones in the disc or its a seperate module like the VT's
I'm guessing they are in the disc. Did you do the work? Note that there will be some clearance, but it's almost un-noticeable.
Incorrect bearing preload, another thing is if you didn't seat the bearing outer races properly, then these will have moved when you tensioned the bearing up on the nut, drastically increasing the clearance between the bearing and outer race.
they are sealed bearings so im thinking it may be faulty.
There should be virtually no play in the hub - I'd check that the hex head bolts are tightened properly - use a 300mm lever on the socket.
ok, after a few days of having both the new hubs in i jacked it back up to check them again, now both have a bit of play in the but how much is too much?
The book says: "There is no axial play or endfloat......however there is a small amount of angularmovement that is caused by the displacement of the ball races under load"
There is a test which basically calls for placing a 10kg load against the brake disc - movement should be less than 0.106mm for a new hub assembly.
So there is a tiny tiny allowable amount of play.....
i checked my front hubs on me VS yesterday with the proper dial guage and there was not one bit of movement in them. Make surre the hex hed bolts are done up tight if so then it may be dud hubs.....what brand are they?
