Centre console ideas

Ok, so a few months ago i smoothed the gear selector surround in my VS (deleted ashtray and cig lighter), but now I am sick of looking at a big blank space.

Does anyone have any ideas for what I can do with that space?

Ideas so far:
3.5"ish screen, but I have never seen one, and I already have a 7" one up the front
Gauge/s, but I have a pretty much stock engine so I hardly need them
Switches, looks wanky, and again, I don't really need any

I could make up a fibreglass one, and do something crazy with it, but just can't get inspired

Get an iPod Touch, hook it up to your head unit and build it into the spot? Touch screen music selection

u could move your power window switches up into that spot, and build in some cup holders where the current window switches are..

apart from that not too sure, i've seen a headunit mounted upright in that spot and the screen was fabbed in the console area taking up both dinn spots.. looked pretty good.

or xpensv has his climate controls where the ashtray used to be, (and a 19" screen in his dash) but u could use that whole area for say a 10" screen..

Hmm...I use my iriver most of the time in the car, I could build a little mount for that

The big screen thing would be awesome, but I think its a bit bigger of a job than I really want to undertake right now. I need to be able to drive my car every day at the moment.

I might look around for prices of screens though, and keep that idea in mind for later on

If you go on cruises you could also mount an in car CB somewhere But they're expensive. The ones you hide and use the mic to control channels and all that are even more expensive though

I was more after something that looks different, not something that looks standard (ish) but actually controls the flux capacitor

Yeah i think i'm gonna have to hook up a flux capacitor. Only using 1 switch atm, need more things, without resorting to neons....theres only one lit up VP.

Yea i've seen a few and yea they look messy, would be awesome if you could mount the vy/vz cup holders somewhere in the console.. flipout FTW

you could almost knock over the first part of mounting ur headunit in a different spot in a day, then tackle the big screen over a few, would still leave the car driveable, it just wouldnt look 'pretty'

Well I'm going with the iriver idea. Making a fibreglass copy with a holder for my mp3 player, with built in aux plug. Fibreglass so that it means I don't have to butcher my original one more than I already have, and can keep it in there while I make this other one up over the next little while

Yay, i likes my idea too. I've had my iPod touch sitting on my console the past few weeks. And thought it would be really handy if when i get my new sound system to mount it somewhere in the car. Should look awesome.

Its so weird this post has been brought up. I was thinking of doing the same thing for my Iphone and but, making a mould next to the hand brake. Then just run the AUX cable under my center console.

Also any Ideas on how i can mount 2 more 6x9s in my Pack parcel tray? I already have 2 sitting there. Have got 2 extra spacers and the speakers ready to go in, just need to find the room to put them in.

Good idea, but not doable in my car at the present time. Please see the picture attached as to why this is. Unless i closed it in, but would this still make my car legal?

Oh weird. I thought VN-VS were all the same.

Not sure on the legalities of if, but i thought you can do what you like aslong as you don't cut metal (which is pretty deep)

Maybe buy another shelf from the wreckers, or even look for a VN/P one, and see if they fit.
