Default VR Parcel Shelf Speaker Size

hey i would just like to know what size speaker would fit under the parcel shelf without any modification.

Also if anyone has changed the rear speakers of a VR which ones you put in and what size?

    Thanks

For the easiest job 6" coaxials will do the trick, can even use the rubber gasket from the factory speakers - best of all it looks completely factory. For a bit trickier job (but bigger size) you could try 6.5". 6"x9" would require cutting (both the shelf and possibly metal unless you use a spacer) or building a new shelf, and splits would require the tweeters be mounted somewhere (roof or in the shelf) which can make things a lot trickier. I got some pioneer 6" 2 way coaxials, wasn't too fussed because I wanted something to fill in the rear (got splits up front) and they do the job perfect, ~$50 from JB

Pretty much any 6.5"s will fit. There is no need for splits as you will never hear the difference from the front seats. I have 6.5" Alpine Type-s coaxials in mine (~$150) and they are fine

ok so when you guys say it doesnt fit what do you mean? is the mounting wholes not lining up the diameter too big or does it touch the grill on the parcel shelf?

i guessing they would mean the holes dont line up.. i just replaced the ones in my vs with some 6" pioneers i got from JB Hi-Fi ($83) and they lined up perfectly..

my vr had a indentation in the shelf so i could just pull it and make a hole for 6x9 and they fit in like 5 minutes just screw to shelf or buy spacers like i did
