    Default Placement key

That should have been "REplacement Key"

Im wanting to get a new key for my VS cause the buttons have deteriorated. Can you just buy the buttons anywhere or would I have to replace the whole key? I know Holden charge about $100 for a new key and have heard some locksmith places charge less, but are they actually copying the signal to a new key or just replacing the black part?

Mr Minit charges $110 for a key and head or $70 for the head only including programming so the latter is the way to go. They're at most shopping centres.

You can buy replacement heads off ebay. You just pull it apart, put the pcb and metal key into the shell of the new head. The only problem is
    A) its not that cheap - ranging from $20 to about $50 for one with a chev logo
    B) Its risky, you could damage something if youre not careful
    C) You have to glue the two halves together, which is tricky and, if not done right, will annoy you.
