hi just the other day i went through a large puddle
( had no choice road was covered in water ) and ever since then it has been running wierd its like it doesnt know wat gear to be in or something, i have checked the air filter and removed the two sensors at the rear of trans. and sprayed with elec spray to disperse any water. i have also put it in neutral and revved engine and it seems to run fine but when i drive gears hold out to long and it feels very restricted to move. please help!!!!!!!

Get hold of a Gregorys workshop manual for your VR and it has details on how to check whether those sensors (prob VSS) are OK - you can usually borrow from the library.
Other than testing the sensors its possible water has entered the DFI module which sits under the coils - if it gets wet it can cause missing.
Also do a fault codes test as from your description the car may be in LHM (Limp Home Mode) - if so the car will stay in 3rd and feel as though its being driven by an elastic band. Is the engine light on?

sounds like there is water in the leads to the spark plugs and its stalling under load.

water can not enter the trans unless the big plug's rubber boot is torn or not fitted correctly

i just had my car do this all it was was no1 lead was knacked, my trans would hold wouldnt rev in gear but would free rev ok. but the lead slowley got worse and i got a miss all the time and found no1 to be stuffed - replaced and now all is ok

    might be a thought

No not really. Lead is just getting the spark from the coil pack to the spark plug. Just make sure they are all sitting on the coil pack and spark plug nice and tight. Its possible a bump just caused the lead to come off a little. I dont think the problem is related to the leads. Even if one goes, the car will idle rough but still run. If one is intermittent you will feel it under load but it wont cause the car to stall. Personally I would be booking it into a mechanic to check out.

No need to remove both battery connections - or any for that matter. You can achieve the same thing by removing the 20A engine fuse for a couple of seconds.

In the first reply hako suggested you check error codes - go out and do this. If the car stalled there is a good chance there are error codes that will point you in the right direction.
