Default VR Vent system stuck on feet!

    Hey guys,

I have a VR commodore and the vent is stuck on feet and won't blow anywhere else. Is the vent system controlled by vacuum or cable? Whichever it is what do you think the problem is?

Any help is appreciated. Cheers, Aaron

Its controlled by vaccum, if it at ur feet, it has no vac.

U will have a crack sumwhere or a vac line has come off, have fun finding it

Sorry to bud in but i was just wondering if this related to my VS Ute because the heater tap control doesn't seem to be working. Eg if i turn it either way cold or hot the vacuum doesn't open or close in the heater valve and it seems to always be stuck on warm/hot. If so is this most likely a cracked pipe somewhere or a pipe that has fallen off or something worse?

Any help would be much appreciated as i may tackle it this weekend and i hope the above made sense.

Again sorry for budding in but i dont think this small question is worthy of another thread and well it seems like this is the same topic.

    Thanks heaps
    Matt

sounds as tho u got the same problem, mite just be ur heater tap isnt holdin that vaccum.

I would tyr another tap or atleast take it off push in the lever n hold where the vac line goes n see if it holds it closed.

If it opens ur heater tap is stuffed, if it holds, then there is a vac leak

It may be the vac line near the throttle body. This happened to me once before, it just came off with out me realising. See pic below to locate it.

Your problem may be the white clip/holder that the rod clips into. You can see it without taking anything a part. It's on the side of the stereo near the trans tunnel down the bottom. The rod clips into it and as you turn the knob it pushes and pull the rod which is connected to the white clip which controls the heat and cool hope this makes sense.

    See the pic

Thank you for the info. What i managed to do was get two photo's, Here they are

    Photo 1

The first photo shows the clip position when on cold/cool/blue and the clip/button is pushed in?

    Photo 2

The second photo shows the clip position when on hot/warm/red and the clip/button is allowed to push out since there is no pressure on it.

But what does this means and does it look like its in good working order? Also when the clip is in the hot/warm/red position with no pressure on the clip/button if i push it in it makes a air swishing sound? What does this mean?

Thanks heaps for the help so far please keep it up

just a bit of a note
if you have lost all vaccume to the a/c vent system (hvac) it should go stright to the screen this is a adr rulling if its goin to the feet it also might be goin to the screen, if it is not goin to the screen at all the problem is elsewere

though i might add my 2cents

If you put it to cold and turn on the aircon does it go cold? Also when on cold without a/c on it will only drag in the outside air. So if it is warm outside the air coming in won't be much cooler.

Oh and also the swish sound means it's shutting of the valve to stop the warm water circulating through the system, so it's working fine.

I had the same problem, the vent-selector switch was rooted. Look here ...
    Air Conditioning Advice

But yeah, it's a vaccuum problem. Check if your getting pressure by starting the car & changing positions on the vent selector, you should hear a 'hiss' every time you change vent positions.

If it's not the switch, youre gonna have to pull apart your stereo consol, glovey & fuse-box cover & poke around checking all your lines ... I know -Yay!

Thanks a lot for your help guys. We found a vacuum line that leads to nowhere, it had a screw in the end of it blocking it off, but the screw fell out, so we blocked it off again and now the vent selector works ok.

    Hi Guys,
I have a similar problem to Azzman, the air always blows on my feet when I accelerate and when going uphill but then goes back to normal once no longer accelerating or on on flat ground. Would it be a similar solution?
    Cheers,
    Twig

im about to start looking at the vent selector in mine, doesnt seem to be selecting anything, when the air is on it comes from under the bonnet towards the windscreen, im guessing theres ducting not hooked up or missing
