what kinda noise? if its a crunch then your syncros are probably worn. 2nd normaly wears out 1st because its used the most and youd notice it when changing up more

You will notice his car is automatic

Mate, it's probably because your car is a cop car, and they get THRASHED. You'll get used to things breaking - BT1s do that. They're mostly slow, and they all break a lot The auto is likely on its way out, because it's been underserviced and overdriven. Could be time for a new auto

Its probably a worn or broken engine mount - the rear one at the back of the trans can make a noise as it allows the back of the trans to move sideways and hit the body. Not all ex-cop cars are thrashed and I'd reckon most are driven better than a normal car as the police are trained to drive a car...not thrash it - mine was just like new at 80ks when I bought it 5 years ago and has been ultra reliable.
Also a VS ex-cop car has had a few owners since sold....the police were just the first owners and would have sent it to auction at 40,000km.
