    Default Auto overrun

    Hey all

Ive recently moved from a vn to a vs, both autos. While the vn was relativly 'tight' if you kept the revs over around 2k, it feels like the vs has always got the overrun clutch open, ie even at 2.5 - 3k it feels quite free, making it basically impossible to balance the car around a round about etc.

Is this normal for vs autos? ie are they really that crap compared to the vn box?

Also the 1-2 change is very slow, as im a normal driving change in a manual slow, is the box gone?

    Cheers

try the power button and see if that helps. if that don't help could be near the end. Hoes the fluid ? if its old change it , that helps them

im no expert BUT, from experience i'd go with worn band or 2nd apply piston for the 1-2 slow shift, does it clunk into second?

when you say "free" do you mean like in neutral? that would be your clutches AKA friction pads.

Then again could just be solenoids, the best advice really has allready been posted anyway, go with Greenacc's advice, check/top up the fluid, do an error code check too.

    Thanks for the replys guys

By 'tight' and 'free', im refering to the transition from power to engine braking. ie a manual is 'tight' and an auto that drops into overdrive as soon as you lift off is 'free'. When the auto is held back into 2nd gear, it feels like it will change up a gear as you lift off.

Power button doesnt seem to make much difference, its a little better, but still nothing on the vn box, which was stuffed anyway...

Usually the 1-2 change is very gentle (because its so slow i guess), but the 2-3 change is what i would expect from a heathly box.

Fluid + filter was changed about 1000km ago, and didnt make any noticeable difference. No error codes.

    Cheers
