how else can i get codes?

i'd do a code check but my security light doesn't work as the wiring got damaged when i put my new stereo in..is there any other way to get codes without paying holden $50 to download codes

my check engine came on during a cruise down the highway but hasnt come on since

the code check flashes the engine light, not the security light

What he said. The engine light on the dash should flash up when you short the diag. plug.

Cheers for that. Got a code 12, just wondering if it's unusual to throw an engine light then have an all clear code, nothing i should worry about?

Yeah it's normal. Sometimes everything fixes itself, and the computer goes "oh, fair enough then" and ignores it. I've NEVER had to reset the computer to erase codes. Whenever I fix a problem, the code goes away altogether.
