    Default VS 2,Factory diff ratio?

While changing the rotors the other day i noticed a sticker on the drivers side of the diff housing that said 3.07:1

Is this the normal ratio that came out on a 98 VS 2 Statesman?

3.07????? Sounds off to me, if its a series 3 i could understand.
Wait... is it a supercharged 6? If so then that should be right.
Stock should be 3.08, which is basically no difference at all to a 3.07 lol

Yeah i was expecting the label to be 3.08...Not that its any difference with 3.07 but just curious.

    The car is a 98 V8 series 2 statesman.

Hmmm, thats pretty odd man, dunno why that would be. Wouldnt be worried about it though. Theres always the chance its got a later model diff in it though.
Also i was sure 98 would be a series 3??

Yeah its Feb 98 so it mite be bordering late series 2 to early series 3...?

Are there any key differences in the later diffs?

if it is infact 3.07:1 that means it's been fitted with the later model BW80 diff instead of the BW78 as fitted normally in the VS. the BW80 has a 8" crown wheel where as the BW78 is only 7.8" does it also have the 179kw 304 holden engine?
i believe the change over period was VT s1 to VT s2 when the LS1 engines were fitted along with the new trans (T56) and new diffs. the autos got the 3.07 ratio and the manual got the 3.46 ratio diffs

i guess the stateman and ute models are slightly different as they continued to produce these after the VT went into production

What are the tell tale signs of the 179kw motor or is there a prefix for it in the VIN number?

i think with the s3 they got rid of the mechanical fan and fitted thermo's (as per the VTs1) but not sure if that was also carried over to the s3 stato's and utes. others may be able to shed more light. the 179kw 304 also had sequencial injection. they way i hear it, they were some of the best blocks to ever leave the holden facility.

According to a parts book I have the Series 3 Statesmans. Caprices and Utes were actually called VS@VT with no such reference to series 3 as we all call them now.
I must say that i have never actually seen a series 111 badge can anyone confirm this.
