    Default T5'ers check your screws

Inlaws borrowed my today car and they wrang and said it wouldnt go into gear. Turns out the bolts under the rubber(the one under the gaitor that goes on the floor) on the shifter stalk came out, it may just be worth your while for the quick job it is to check them and make sure there tight on yours.

I have that problem regularly. one of the countersunk bolts comes out, and the other loosens, making it so you can't select any gear.

I had new bolts aswell. but my shifter was modified to be a short shifter, so that probably causes excess vibrations on it.

i used slightly longer bolts threw the shift and out a nut on the other side and i don't have any dramas but i have had the 4 bolts that hold the selector on top of the box come a little loose.
