should i dont know what size mine are but they are 19 with a 245 tread they do scrub but i think thats to do with the offset of the rim, have solved that since by taking to the rear guards with a hammer
if it doesn't have a lion in the badge it not worth having

Sorry to interrupt but i think the wheels on my VS Ute are 17x8.0 and well i was wondering if these should scrub as it looks like they have a few times but particularly on the right hand side. I am guessing that the tyre rash prevention band adds a bit to the problem but it seems when looking from the rear of the ute that there is more clearance on either side of the wheel on the left then there is on the right? Is this right? And if so why?

Also i would love to know if the diff on these VS Utes is meant to be centered or not? And why?

    Thanks Heaps

when you lower these things the diff tend's to move accross and the tyers scrub, you can gat a adjustabol panhard rod's which allows the diff to be centrilized once again

and yes central is better for the unies etc and tyer were

Ah i have heard of the adjustable panhard rods but my ute doesn't have one and hasn't actually been lowered yet. My dad says that its probably hit a curve before we bought it since hes always pessimistic and i am hoping he is wrong

Any other idea's? It drives fine and the tyres seem to be wearing fine just that it does scrub a bit and well it seems like the diff is further one side then the other. Just confirming that they weren't like that from the factory and that the diff is meant to be 100% in the middle of either side?

    Thanks again
    Matt

best get a wheelalignment it should tell you if your out on the rear. nothing is adjustabol but if something is bent than the alignment should give you a good starting point

Your diff is definatly left of center thats for sure. Have alook and see if anythings bent under there, if not then grab yourself an adjustable panhard rod. Should only take half hour to change.

So is the diff meant to be smack bang in the middle? So what could have caused this and does that mean it is pulling the right hand wheel further under the guard and then scrubbing on the guard? How does an adjustable panhard rod work and how much are they and will it fix the non-centered diff? And what would leaving this like it is do? Just uneven tyre wear?

    Thanks
    Matt

Your panhard rod is the long rod that goes behind the axle. It goes from one side of the car (attached to the car stucture) and then it goes along to the other side and attaches to the axle on the other side (go out and have a look under the back of your ute). This is the rod that stops your whole axle and diff sliding side to side. The standard one is solid and a set legnth, if you get an adjustable one you can change the length of it and therefor pull the wheels to one side or the other.
No it wont matter if it sits to one side, and your tyres shouldnt wear unevenly, but you did say that one side was closer to the gaurd and scrubbing a bit, this would fix that by pulling the whole axle over a little bit. But its up to you as to wether its worth your while.
