Default Removing ignition barrel problem. Help needed

Hi guys, I need to get a new ignition barrel for my VR because my current one is jammed. I have read that to remove the ignition barrel you have to turn the key to ON position and press in the little hole which will release the barrel. My problem is that i cant turn my key to ON because the barrel is seized and jammed. Is there any other way i can remove it?

Any help or ideas would be much appreciated!

ok to remove an ignition barrel you basically take off the shroud from behind your steering wheel, now on the very top just behind the steering wheel there should be a small hole, use something like a very thin screw driver and push in, but be sure to have your key in the ignition barrel on the ACC, meaning not having any dash lights on.
Anyway push in this screw driver gently and pull your car key and gently remove the barrel...
hope that helps, i mean alternatively call a lock smiths and they should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do... it is a fairly easy thing to do, but make sure your carefull do it though!

edit, you may not need to move your key to an on mode, you simply need your key to be in the acc function so that when you pull the key it simply won't come out!

ok well i would say it's probably safe to simply jam a screw driver in the key slot, i mean if it's farked anyway it won't matter, just gotta get it to move a little! i'm thinking that the end of the barrel there may simply be something snapped off stoping if from moving, this is plastic, i would assume with a fair amount of pressure you could get it turned...

Yeah the lock is stuffed so i guess i will just hack at it cause it will be going in the bin anyway.

    Thanks mate!
