Question whats the best way to seperate ball joint on VS ?

OK so you undo and remove the bolt that holds it in, then what ? bash the hell out of it ? can you jam a wege in the crack the bolt goes through to open it up ? Thanks.

If it the tie rod you are talking about undo the nut and turn it upside down and screw most of it back on and hit it with a copper faced hammer or put something over the nut so you dont burr it over with a normal hammer.
If its the main ball joint you are taking out just undo the nut and take the bolt out and by wedging something in the gap to spread the joint it will slip or push out...no hitting necessary

yeah i mean the main ball joint , the one on the outer end of the control arm. I did one side today with a small wedge but i guess it wasn't wide enough so the arm needed a few hits tp get it out. Will try a thicker wedge on the other side and see how it goes. Does the tie rod end remover work on ball joints as well or just tie rod ends ? cheers guys.

The tool is more for just the tie rod ends. Makes the job so much easier!

As the others said, for the ball joint, just undo the nut and remove the bolt.
Then it should be fairly easy to get out. I used to soft faced mallet and whacked on the bottom a couple times to loosen it.

spot on. one decent hit normally pops the tie rod. the problem with some of the tie rod removal tools is that they damage the boot. if re-using the tie rod thats a bad thing
