    Default Bloody car!!!

Gday fellas.I need some help with me car please.Real SUSS on the way quality and service is handed out these days eh.Particurlarly from HOLDEN.Had a VZ SSZ ute with the works, which i got rid of cause of ongoing problems and pretty ORDINARY HOLDEN aftersales service.Fair dinkum.Whatever happened to football, meat pies and Holden cars.Me first was a HT.So i love me OLD Holdens.Got this VS wagon thats been doing the CAS thing and stalling and not starting till it cools down, and left me stranded.$200 bucks and a tow truck later. It was replaced.Through the mechanic that took it to a nearby Holden dealership.Said it was the CAS.That cost $220.Got in the car a few days later and GUESS WHAT????? Same thing again.Hook up me mates boat and while the car is idling. The big splutter and stall.I cant believe how many people are having the same problem. Advice would be appreciated heaps.Ill do my own error code check first. Then ill ask the mechanic to see what they error code they got. Real SUSS. Thanks.

well underneath all that i think i can suggest a place to start looking.
the dfi module sounds like its on they way out. and it possibly wont give you a error code, but if you are luckey you might get bye pass spark error or something like that.

What do you reckon about having oil from say a leaky rocker cover gasket running onto the CAS.Would that contribute to to a faster deoteriation of the CAS? I say that cause ive had a leaky one for quite a while.Gonna sort it out.And i read it somewhere on here.As well read, about having ****ty spark plug leads, like in too old or faulty can contribute to coil/dfi module stuffing up.What do you reckon boys? Thanks heaps.Saving a bucket load.

Update.Bought some Bosch plugs and leads and an air filter.Set the gap to 1.5mm.I knew they were overdue, but didnt realise it was that bad.Car goes like a rocket.Car was stalling before after about 30 minutes.Let it idle for an hour in the driveway. Then took it for a spin for about half an hour. Then let it sit for another 15 mins again. No stalling.Goes better than ever.Whats the go here? I was going to change the coils and dfi module. But now its going ok.When it was idling it was blowing a fair bit of smoke after about 30 minutes or so.Revved her up and even more bloody smoke. What now? Used to blow a little puff now and then before, but not like this. Then it just stopped blowing smoke and was coming out nice and clear with a more cleaner smell out the exhaust. Thanks for your help guys.Im on a mission to fix all the neglected areas on this wagon. If i can do it.I bloody will.Too many incompetent mechanics out there.Itll only go there if it has to.

haha glad ya got it fixed mate...spark plugs can cause all sorts of problems though...i guess its cheaper then coils and dfi module etc..as for the smoke...i wouldn't worry to much about it unless its doing it constantly and your losing oil...might have been cleaning it self out now that its running properly

as for teh oil leaking onto the CAS...well me mates has a fair bit of oil leaks in the engine.....some go to the CAS but he hasnt had any real dramas with it, although i have herd this can cause then to fail. as for my VS there aint any oil leaks in the car so i dont have to worry haha

Onya jas.Yeah i was thinking it may be cause of the the new plugs and leads.I know the old plugs were bloody rooted. No oil on em. But not enough to cause it to act like A CAS/Dfi mod/coil breakdown eh.Gotta get those leaks fixed jas.I had me oil leaks for years.Lol.Fair dinkum.Arent i a slack ass. Thanks matey.

I wouldn't imagine oil dripping on to your CAS would cause it to fail, as it is basically just a magnet encolsed with plastic, so yeah unless the thin fins on the inner of your harmonic balancer are farked, or the CAS is old and on it's way out the CAS should be fine...
